WTC Finals 2023: Team India makes history, enters WTC Finals for second consecutive time

Meanwhile, happy news has come out for Team India from New Zealand. The Test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand has ended, New Zealand has won by 2 wickets and Team India has qualified for the WTC 2023 final.

India will now face Australia for the World Test Championship. This match will be held from 7th to 11th June at the Oval ground and a reserve day has also been kept for this match on 12th June. Team India has reached the final of the World Test Championship for the second consecutive time. Earlier, India lost to New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship.

New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 2 wickets

India’s defeat in the Indore Test has made the World Test Championship final equation interesting. After this, Team India had to wait for some time to reach the WTC final. Australia’s position was secured by winning the Indore Test, but India had to depend on the Sri Lanka-New Zealand Test match. Sri Lanka are currently playing a two-Test series in New Zealand, needing to win the series 2-0 to reach the final, which did not happen.

In the first innings of the Sri Lanka-New Zealand Test in Christchurch, Sri Lanka made a big score of 355 runs, in response to which New Zealand scored 373 runs in the first innings. Dyrrell Mitchell scored a brilliant century for New Zealand. But in reply, Sri Lanka scored 302 runs in the second innings, including a century from Angelo Mathews.

In such circumstances, New Zealand were given a target of 285 runs to win, a target that was difficult but not impossible to achieve on the final day. After this, New Zealand took the match to the last over and eventually won.
