Thunderstorms are predicted in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada between March 13 and 16. It is being said that unseasonal rain is likely to occur in Vidarbha between March 14 and 16. In North Maharashtra, rain accompanied by hailstorm is likely at some places and this is likely to affect harvest crops.

Similarly, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that many parts of the state will experience unseasonal rain once again. Unseasonal rain may occur in different parts of the state till March 16. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain with thundershowers mainly over North Maharashtra and Marathwada.

Earlier, the unseasonal rain last week caused heavy damage to the wheat crop of many farmers. Ajit Pawar, the leader of the opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, also stood in favor of the farmers and demanded immediate assistance from the state government. Ajit Pawar had said in the Legislative Assembly, “Unseasonal rains have caused heavy damage to crops in Nashik, Dhule, Buldana, Palghar, Beed, Jalna, Pune, Ahmednagar, Washim, Solapur and other parts of the state.” Onion, wheat, chickpea, soybean, maize, tuar, banana crops have been damaged due to unseasonal rain. Along with this, harvested wheat has been destroyed, mango, cashew, grape, banana, orange, lemon, papaya, kalingar and many fruit crops like gram, tur, maize, walla, chickpea, pawpaw and other hardy leafy vegetables. has also been damaged. Cattle have died due to lightning, sheep have also died. Farmers are facing a twin financial crisis due to fruit fall of crops like mango, cashew and orange, which will adversely affect production. Since the farmers are in double trouble, the government should compensate the farmers by doing Panchnama for this loss.

The Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Devendra Fadnavis, while replying to the leaders of the opposition parties, said that 13 thousand 729 hectares of crops have been damaged in the state due to unseasonal rain. Fadnavis had also said that he would help the affected farmers.
